After a busy day in Oklahoma City (and given the roadworks there) I decided to take the easy route to Amarillo by following the Interstate (with just a few detours!). Now, for a fair part of the route it is one and the same as things get a bit more spread out round here!Again, crossing the border to a new state (in this case from Oklahoma to Texas) brought an almost instant change in the landscape. I became a lot more open and flatter and drier - you can see how it moved to more desert-like conditions from the picture above.
Given the schedule of the trip I am following I am therefore nearly half way along Route 66 already - this means that I should have a few days of slightly less travelling, starting with today!
